Sean’s Top 5 Christmas Songs to get you in the spirit!

I think we all have a list of our favorite Christmas songs and the best part about them…there is no wrong choice.SeanDoherty I love remakes of all the beloved Christmas hits by all of the Q artists, but when you hear an original Christmas song, it tells an individual story and depending on where you are in your life when you first hear it, it really creates a memory and that’s what you always remember when you hear the songs. So the list below aren’t THE BEST SONGS EVER…they are just the ones that bring up the most memories for me.

Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas Is You

Growing up my mom would always have me and my sister dance around the living room while we decorated the tree. It’s just an upbeat song that makes me smile.

Waitresses -Christmas Wrapping

I never had any idea what these women were singing about…and I’m still not sure I do…but for some reason the line “you mean you forgot cranberries too?!” makes me laugh.

Karen Carpenter – Merry Christmas, Darling

Karen Carpenter’s voice is one of a kind in my book. I think knowing of her history and how sad it was that she died so early, really makes me appreciate this song and her amazing vocals.

Lou Monte – Christmas at Our House

Being Italian, I was raised in a home where Christmas was like every other day in the year…lots of food, lots of family…and lots of laughs. Lou Monte was one of my favorite singers growing up and I love this song.

David Bowie and Bing Crosby – Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth

My father introduced me to this song on vinyl back when it first came out and it was the first time I realized that 2 generations (Bing being my grandfather’s era and Bowie being my dad’s) could come together and make an amazing Christmas song.
