September’s Teacher of the Month: Samantha Buron

The school year is in full swing and so is our Teacher of the Month campaign. 99.9 the Q started recognizing teachers on Cape Cod last spring. We got such a big reaction that we brought it back this school year. Our sponsors, Ryan’s and the Ten Pin Eatery also loved the Teacher of the Month idea and decided to make it bigger and better this year.

Each month, we’ll be choosing a teacher from among your submissions to receive a huge haul of prizes! I get to visit the school and award the Teacher of the Month with an honorary plaque, a $100 Visa gift card, an escape room experience, and a gift for every child in his or her class!

The submissions we received for the first month of this school year were absolutely amazing. We love reading about the creative ways educators reach their students, the enthusiasm they show for their profession, and different ways they go above and beyond.

This month’s Teacher of the Month is Samantha Buron – a physical education teacher from M.E. Smalls Elementary School in Yarmouth. She was nominated by another member of the faculty who had the following to say:

“Ms. Samantha Buron is the Physical Education Teacher at M. E. Small Elementary school. She teaches 240 students in grades Kindergarten through third grade, twice a week. She instills in them values such as good sportsmanship, persistence, and being a team member. She loves her students, and she loves her job, and it shows. She constantly goes above and beyond. She is also a valuable member of the faculty. She single-handedly heads up our Sunshine Committee, which means she does everything from buying flowers to welcoming new teachers into our building, to buying cards and making donations when a co-worker loses a family member. She is beautiful, smart, dedicated, reliable, and fun. She makes learning fun for all of her students no matter what challenges they may face in terms of learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral issues, and language barriers. I wholeheartedly nominate her for Teacher of the Month.”

If you know of a teacher who deserves to be recognized and could use that $100 Visa Gift card, nominate them today at www.999theQ.com

UPDATE: Rebecca Romo and Cathy Summers visited M.E. Smalls Elementary to meet Teacher of the Month Samantha Buron as well as the music teacher Kathleen Healey who nominated her. We awarded Ms Buron with some fantastic prizes from Ryan’s and the Ten Pin Eatery: an honorary plaque, a $100 Visa gift card, an escape room experience, and a gift for every child in his or her class! We also loved getting to see “The Shoe Wall” a rack of donated gym sneakers so kids can take part in gym class even if they forget to bring the right footwear.
