The Fall 15

The calendar says it’s fall, so my crockpot just received the official call up to the big leagues. Fall is secretly my favorite season…shhhh! don’t tell the other seasons, they would not be happy.

Spring and summer bring delicious seasonal fares that tend to lend themselves to healthy eating. Fruits, veggies, lean proteins seem to be abundant. But then, fall arrives and my cooking seems to veer off the healthy to COMFORTOWN.

Hearty soups, stews and casseroles dominate my dinner table in the Fall. My secret family recipes tend to be the recipes I love most and are full of butter, cream, and are heavy on the carbs. Those are the best recipes – am I wrong? And I tend to dust all those recipes off at the first hint of cooler weather.

This phenomenon I like to call the Fall 15. Because with all those hearty meals comes the need to check the batteries in the scale, because that number surely cant be right.

Not sure about you, but fall also requires a different arsenal of kitchen cookery and gadgets. Steamers, griddles and sauté pans make way for crockpots, dutch ovens and ladles. It wasn’t even be something I knew I was doing. I didn’t realize I was making a food shift until my hubby noticed that all my Pinterest pins were suddenly terribly wonderful fatty foods.

Here’s what I’m talking about (excuse my amateur, non-Pinterest food photos)

Baked Stuffed Shells, My Own One-Pot Mess-terpiece and Pecan Praline Cheesecake.

What are your favorite Fall recipes? I’d LOVE to try them. Be warned, this may warrant extra time at the gym. Email me at [email protected].
