This is a first for me… A Review of the Keith Urban Concert!

The Xfinity Center was rockin’ Saturday night as country superstar Keith Urban played to a fun happy to be there crowd on a gorgeous summer night. More on Keith in a moment.

Newcomer Maren Morris opened the show with a quick, but great set. Singing tracks from her debut record “Hero”, including her number one smash, “My Church”. This young lady is going to be a star, plain and simple. She hit every note, and was clearly enjoying herself. there are big things in store for this young lady.

I have noticed that the middle slot at a country show is reserved for someone right on the cusp of being a headliner. there is a bit of a stage show, and they got about 45 min. Brett Eldridge had the middle slot, and owned it like a headliner. Opening his set with “Lose my Mind”, he came out in a strait jacket and the crowd erupted!! He kept it going his entire set, handing out roses during “Drunk On Your Love”, and dancing with the crowd during “Beat Of the Music”. Next year, he will be the headliner!

Which brings me to the headliner, Keith Urban.

image1Amazing with a guitar. In the conversation with Eddie Van Halen and Eric Clapton. He’s that good, He can shred.

Opened up on the banjo (which he can equally shred) with “Gone Tomorrow”, the place went nuts. He kept up the energy and the venue rocking.

Saturday was also the 10th anniversary of Keith, and his wife, movie star Nicole Kidman. She could bt there for the show as she is filming a movie in their native Australia. He stopped the show for a good 5 minuets, and told the story of their courtship, marriage and birth of their kids, complete with pictures. He was saying the plan was to stay in Boston after the show, and celebrate like Australian tourists!! He then went off set list and did “Blue Ain’t Your Color” for his wife.

A highlight of his set was the “B Stage” set up at the edge of the lawn. The place went crazy when hr did 3 songs from the smaller stage, including his smash hit “Somebody Like You” with Brett Eldridge joining him on stage. Maren Morris also joined him singing the part of Miranda Lambert during “We Were Us”

A two song encore, ended with “Raise Em Up.”

It was a great show, everyone brought their “A” game and it showed.

See you at the next one!!

Ralphie
