Why I love “This is Us”

So, yesterday afternoon I decided to go thru my DVR and watch the latest episode of “This is Us” I was totally focused on the plot line and the relatabilty of the characters involved. There are 3 different timelines going and sometimes I get confused but most of the time I can follow along.

There are 3 children (as is in my family) and someone is always joking about which child the parents love the most. We used to always say my mother loved me the most, my father loved my sister Linda the most and my aunt (who lived across the street) loved my sister Janice the most. I’m not sure that was true…but we would say it anyway.

So, why do I relate to this show…and why do I sometimes cry when I watch it…because the kids lose their father and a wife losses her husband. Two things I understand all to well…unfortunately.

Other reasons why I and so many other people relate to THIS show more than other shows. Well, probably because of the subject matter…for example: there is an adoption storyline, a weight loss storyline and a drinking storyline…just to name a few. It’s pain, it’s tragedy, it’s trauma, it’s reflection, it’s memories and of course, it’s love!

This is one of the most popular shows on TV. People are invested in the characters…and the biggest investment will be right after the Super Bowl when everyone will find out how “Jack” the matriarch of the family dies. I am sure THIS episode will bring on the most tears of all!
