Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra (CCCO), the region’s newest professional orchestra, announces its debut concert Here at the Edge of the Sea, on Sunday, April 15, 3 pm, at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 533 Main Street, Rt. 28, Harwich Port, conducted by Music Director Matthew Scinto. The performance features a collaboration with Cape Cod Writers Center, honoring National Poetry Month.  Featuring poetry-inspired music, the program includes Cape poet Judith Askew’s “Here at the Edge of the Sea” set to original music by noted Boston composer-conductor Francis Snyder. In addition, poetry authored by students from Harwich’s Monomoy Regional High School will be on display in the church sanctuary.

“I’m very excited to bring this orchestra to the Cape community, which I am proud to call my new home,” said CCCO conductor Scinto.  “Our first program is exactly what I envisioned when I set out to create this chamber orchestra – beautiful music from composers old and new, integrating the Cape’s already rich cultural sphere, resulting in a celebration of poetry, creativity and art.”

Committed to artistic integrity and excellence, Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra’s mission is to connect the diverse arts communities and individuals of Cape Cod inclusively. By collaborating with other disciplines of art and culture, the Orchestra aims to create unique concert experiences while providing exciting, enriching and memorable orchestral music.  Featuring living composers is at the forefront of the orchestra’s mission; bringing audiences closer to the music of modern time, positioned as an essential and educational element to each performance program. Other repertoire will have an emphasis on championing the works of living composers, as well as the music of the classical canon.

In addition to the poetry-inspired works, CCCO’s inaugural program features a diverse selection of compositions by classical master composers including Claude Debussy, Edward Elgar and Edvard Grieg. Acclaimed mezzo-soprano Zaray Rodriguez is featured as soloist in Gustav Mahler’s “Songs of a Wayfarer”.

“We are so fortunate to have music in our world – it is the one constant despite generation after generation of change and still serves an important purpose to us today,” shares Scinto.  “I believe this purpose will shine forth as a beacon of our artistic direction in this debut performance.”

Tickets to Here at the Edge of the Sea are $25 general admission in advance by April 15, $30 at the door; $15 for students ages 12 through college age, children under 12 are admitted for free. Tickets are available at, by calling 508-432-1668, or at the door by cash or credit card.
