Brewster Ladies' Library


For the month of May 2018, the Brewster Ladies’ Library is pleased to present an art show by Bonnie Brewer, titled “Now and Then.”

Bonnie Brewer is an award-winning artist who has been living on Cape Cod for more than 40 years. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Boston College and a Master’s degree in Library Science from Simmons College. After teaching in public schools for 25 years, she pursued a lifelong goal to be a full-time artist.

Bonnie paints abstracts as well as seascapes and other representational subjects. Since 1987, she has studied independently with Sam Feinstein, Harry Holl, Lois Griffel,  Karen North Wells,  Sarah Holl, Carol O’dell, and at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work has been shown at the Larkin Gallery in Provincetown, the Post Office Gallery in Truro, the Mercantile in Dennis, Cape Cod Museum of Art, Cape Cod Art Association, Provincetown Art Association, Academy of Performing Arts, Artworks Gallery, Brewster Ladies’ Library, Dennis Public Library, Dennis Memorial Library, the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, and many private collections.

Bonnie has mentored students involved in the Cape and Islands School to Careers Art Internship Program from 2005 through 2012. She teaches art classes at her home art studio, and has also taught at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod and the Cape Cod Museum of Art. She is a member of the Cape Cod Art Association, Cape Cod Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Cultural Center of Cape Cod, Provincetown Art Association and Museum, Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, and the Creative Arts Center.

The public is invited to meet the artist at a reception at the Library on Saturday, May 5 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
