BREWSTER – One of the most popular programs at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History is the series of beachside explorations known as “Mudflat Mania!” where visitors learn about the fascinating world of creatures living on, in, and under the Cape’s mudflats.

Bring a pail, wear water shoes and explore the Brewster flats with a Museum naturalist – add a notebook, curiosity and an eagerness to learn for a great experience.

The walk is about 20 minutes out to the flats and lasts as long as you wish to stay with the guides, learning and exploring, plus the walk back.

The walk is scheduled for Monday, August 10; Wednesday, August 12; and August 19, August 21, August 24, August 26 and September 3.

Tickets are $5 for members, $7 for non-members and can be purchased at the museum.

The mission of the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History is to inspire appreciation, understanding and stewardship of our natural environment through discovery and learning.

The museum integrates the three strands of its organization identity – as a museum of natural history, a nature education center and a steward of conservation land.

The museum founders first organized at the Brewster Town Hall in 1954 and then relocated to a tent on an 80-acre site on a salt marsh on Cape Cod Bay, purchased by the founders.

In the early 1960s, a small building replaced the tent, and today, the museum is housed in a 17,000-square-foot building with 300 acres of town conservation land now bordering the museum’s original site.
