2022 Cape Cod 4th of July Festivities

Where in the world would you rather be on the 4th of July than a sandy beach, watching fireworks burst along the sky over a beautiful ocean? That’s right, Cape Cod is THE place to be when celebrating our nation’s birthday. In the year 1781, Massachusetts was the first state to recognize Independence Day as a holiday.

7/4, 9AM Barnstable-West Barnstable Parade & House Decorating Contest – 4th of July themed parade through Barnstable Village and youth activities after at the Hollow playground area. Rain Date: July 5. 

7/4, 10:30AM, Centerville Parade – Kids and parade participants assemble at the Centerville Elementary School at 9:00 AM. At 10:30 AM, after the raising of the flag, the Pledge of Allegiance, and America the Beautiful, a Barnstable Fire Truck and Boy Scout Troop 54 Color Guard will lead the kids walking and on decorated bicycles and on floats to proceed onto Bumps River Road and onto Park Avenue connecting to Main Street, ending at the Recreation Center Rear Parking Lot. There Hot Dogs and Ice Cream will be served. Field games will be played. Awards fir best bicycle decoration and best float will be given out. There will be face painting.

7/4, 11AM, Cotuit Parade – The Parade begins on School Street, then left on Main Street and continues down Main Street to the prior Cotuit Elementary School. The termination point is the public field behind the old school building. 

7/4, 11AM, Hyannis Port Mini-Marathon & Parade – The traditional fun run starts at the Post Office at 9 AM followed by the parade at 11 AM beginning at the Hyannisport Post Office on Longwood Avenue; taking a left onto Washington Avenue; a right onto Lafayette Avenue; left onto Winchester Avenue; a left onto Scudder Avenue and continuing onto Dale Avenue to the West Beach Club, where it will end. West Beach Club.

7/4, 2PM-9:30PM, Downtown Hyannis – The traditional Hyannis Marina Boat Parade with best viewing locations at Bismore Park kicks off the afternoon at 2PM followed by “Dancing in the Street”. Hyannis Main Street will be vibrant and lively with food, music, lights and experiences the whole family will enjoy, in Cape Symphony’s inaugural Joy 4 July free concert at Aselton Park at 8PM! Come spend the afternoon and evening! Live music and dance at the Village Green and on each block of the mile-long street!

7/4, Sandwich Parade, Fireworks and other Events – The Spirit of Sandwich Parade will start at 11 AM at the former Henry T. Wing School. Floats will be judged by the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce in four categories; best overall, most patriotic, my hometown and most creative. To register for the parade or the road race, visit www.sandwichrec.com or call the recreation department at 508-888-4361. There is no registration fee and the deadline to register is June 30. The Moonlighters Band will be setting up from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM on the Shawme Pond bandstand. The boat parade starts at 9 PM. Only 18 boats can enter the parade; preregistration can be completed via www.sandwichrec.com or by calling the recreation department at 508-888-4361. To round out the festivities, fireworks will begin at 10 PM.

7/4, 8PM, Joy4July Concert, Aselton Park – As part of the 2022 Town of Barnstable Fourth of July Celebrations, the Cape Symphony led by Conductor Jung-Ho Pak and featuring special guests Mark Kopitzke and LaKisha Jones will perform on Monday, July 4, 2022 at 8:00 PM at Aselton Park in Hyannis. The performance, blending pop, Broadway, patriotic, and Americana music, is FREE and no tickets are required. This unique holiday concert is the culmination of a day full of patriotic traditions, with a boat parade and fun activities for families, residents, and visitors of all ages.

7/4, 9AM, Barnstable 4th of July Parade, Main St. Barnstable Village – The parade begins at the County Complex on Railroad Avenue and proceeds down Main Street (Route 6A); left onto Mill Way and continue to the Village Hollow. For more information, click here.

7/4, 9:30AM, Chatham Parade, Chatham – One of the oldest town parades in the United States! 2022 Theme: “Chatham: Salty as Ever!” For more information, click here

7/4, 9:30AM, Wellfleet Parade – The nostalgic classic car parade begins at 9:30AM and the float parade starts at 10AM. The route begins at the Town Pier. Click here for more information.
