A Good Spot to Take Your Car For an Oil Change

Kia of Cape Cod

If you’re like me, carving out an hour during an already-busy week for an oil change is something of an inconvenience. But I’d been looking at that sticker on the upper corner of my windshield for weeks, knowing I’m far overdue for an oil change and, as I drive a 10-year-old car with over 200,000 miles on it, maintenance is not something to be ignored.

I don’t live on the Cape, but I work here. So, when I’d heard Cape & Islands Kia had recently relocated to South Yarmouth, I decided to stop by after work one day an oil change. I needed to get it done, and I drive a Kia, so I figured I’d call and see if they could squeeze me in with no advanced notice. In my experience, dealerships are always busy, so I wasn’t optimistic.

Not only were they were able to take me not only the same day, but during a time frame that worked perfectly for me.

When I arrived, I was greeted by the young woman at the service desk who checked me in and directed me to the bright, spacious waiting area. It was a comfortable space with a lot of seating, some tables and chairs, a large-screen TV, and a children’s play area (which, if memory serves, is a Godsend when one is waiting on vehicle maintenance with impatient children in tow).

The waiting area also had a hot water/coffee machine and a variety of teas, coffee and hot chocolate available (and the coffee was surprisingly good). This area was clean and convenient, but in some need of attention along the lines of refilling items that had been depleted, like the creamers and the snack bars. The two beautiful poinsettias meant to decorate the waiting area wear dried out and withered.

As I waited, I was greeted by the Director of Fixed Operations, AmberLee Dingess, who was professional and friendly. She explained the recent move, and that it was still a work in progress, and said if there was anything I needed, please let her know. Kia sales consultant Daniel Prado also came and sat with me while I waited, and talked about the new location, his own background in auto sales, and what they hope to accomplish there. I was impressed that he didn’t try to sell me on a new car, but chatted with me about the industry.

As the ownership only moved to this location a few months ago, there is still obvious work to be done on the interior of the building. But as for service, not only did I get my oil change, but a multi-point inspection, a car wash, and they vacuumed it out as well, which was a nice touch. I have no doubt this location will be running perfectly in coming months. I will definitely be returning.

Check out the new Cape & Islands Kia location for yourself at 760 Route 28, South Yarmouth.
