The Platinum Pebble Boutique Inn in West Harwich has been consistently rated as one of the top bed and breakfasts on Cape Cod since it opened in 2011. It is known for being a high-end boutique inn wrapped in affordable bed-and-breakfast style.

The style, charm, location and affordability make it a unique and delightful spot for locals and visitors when choosing a spot for a vacation or a ‘staycation.’

New owners of Mike and Stefanie Hogan, who took over ownership from the previous regime in March 2015, and continued the inn’s dedication to the quality of the luxury experience. The Hogans may not have been born on Cape Cod but they fell in love with it upon arrival.

Mike and his family used to vacation on the Cape when he was a child, coming up from Newport, Rhode Island. He had not been here in years until a father-son trip brought him back in 2013.

“At the same time Stefanie and I had been on the search for our next step,” he said, “and when I was here I was quickly reminded how great it is and knew this was the spot.”

The couple had been dreaming of owning a bed and breakfast and the Cape immediately called to them. According to Mike Hogan it was love at first sight.

“Stefanie and I came back nine months later,” he said, “and she also instantly knew, this was the place. On our last day of vacation we went to look at a bed and breakfast for sale and started planning. We went home to Texas, sold almost everything, liquidated one business, transferred management of another, quit our jobs of 10 and 15 years, sold our house, and six months later we were back on Cape Cod, permanently!”

Once here, Mike found out he had a much deeper connection to Cape Cod than he had realized.

“The twist is, once we decided on moving to Harwich, we found my grandparents’ marriage certificate for Harwich Port,” Hogan says, “and then found out my grandpa’s cousins live down the street from us. We had no idea! It has all come together in a way that has been impossible to have any regrets.”

The Hogans say the 2,000-mile move from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to Harwich has been the best trip they ever made. Though Mike and Stefanie both admit that they purchased The Platinum Pebble because it was already just like they wanted it, there were still some unique touches they wanted to add to make it their own.

“Physically, we have not changed too much, but we have certainly put our touch on things, “Hogan says. “We both love music and the Cape so the theme to the property is old school rock ‘n’ roll meets the beaches of Cape Cod. As you travel throughout the property you might see a concert poster from one of our favorite shows or a commissioned painting of Jimi Hendrix. Incredible local art or pieces we have picked up traveling completes what some have described as coastal elegance.”

When guests choose The Platinum Pebble they are in for many layers of vacation. A favorite is the tour the Hogans put together to help visitors “live like a local.” These include trips to a local oyster farm, excursions on lobster boats, and a charter boat trip which has resulted in Great White shark sightings.

Their style and dedication to their guests has not gone unnoticed; the inn has been showered with accolades as the Hogans enter their second season as owners. Since taking over in March 2015 Examiner.com, Epicure & Culture, The Hotel Guru and Dream Vacation Magazine have been marveling at the luxurious décor and amenities in the eight-room establishment.
The Platinum Pebble opened for the season March 18th. Whether you are a visitor or a local looking for a night away from home you will not be disappointed. Stop in and say hello to Mike and Stefanie and enjoy some affordable Cape Cod luxury.
