Can You Get Out Of This Room In Under an Hour?

How many times have you heard the complaint that there’s just not enough to do in the off-season here on Cape Cod?  The Ten Pin Eatery at the Cape Cod Mall is doing a whole lot to dispel that myth – and one of the most fun features of the entertainment complex they’ve opened are the Escape Rooms.

If you’re not familiar, the concept is this: you enter a room with a group (in this case, a minimum of three people) and they shut the door. Your job? To find your way out – within only an hour. To do that, you have to solve puzzles, do some creative thinking and, most importantly, work as a team.

My adult kids and I discovered this awesome way to spend time together when we decided to try one for my daughter’s birthday and, since then, we’ve tried escape rooms together all over the country. I was so excited to see them come to the Cape. The ones at the Ten Pin Eatery (there are three – each with a different theme) are definitely some of the best we’ve seen. They’re challenging but, with a little on-your-feet detective work, success is possible!

Have you ever dreamed about exploring the pyramids in Egypt? You can dive into uncovering some of the mysteries hidden in the ancient desert in the Pharaoh’s Revenge Escape Room at the Ten Pin Eatery. This is one of the three themed Escape Rooms waiting for you and your sleuthing team to conquer. In this one, you have to find out what went horribly awry when some ancient artifacts were revealed under the hot Egyptian sand. Experience mummies, a mysterious sarcophagus and a race against the clock. If you need a little assistance along the way, one of the expert game masters will provide you with clues to help you stay on track.

In the Mayday Room, you and your crew of at least three people will have to repair the critical systems equipment keeping your submarine operative and find out how to escape through the only possible exit – or it will spell disaster for all of you.  Play deep-sea explorer and put your knowledge of the ocean to work while you battle the clock to survive.  Like all escape rooms, this one contains some hidden mysteries and a few surprises to keep you on your toes.

Unleash your inner scientist in the Inventor’s Workshop Escape Room. (I have a soft spot for this one. It’s the first Escape Room I tried here, and my team and I managed to get out with a whopping 45 seconds to spare). In this room, you’ll need to use all your senses, and you even get to do a little virtual traveling around the world as you search for the will of a world famous inventor who died under mysterious circumstances in Victorian Era England. Until you find it – you’re stuck.

Escape rooms are a great team-building activity for co-workers, friends, and families. They’re not for small children, but teens and even pre-teens will love the competition against the clock, and will contribute greatly to your mission. I love the cooperative aspect of it. It encourages you all to pull together for the win!  And you can count on one of the very friendly game masters at the Escape Rooms at the Ten Pin Eatery to keep you from straying too far from your task if you need assistance.

Next time you’re looking for something to do, I encourage you to go try one of the Escape Rooms at the Ten Pin Eatery. Reserve a spot today at tenpineatery.com, or just stop by the Cape Cod Mall and reserve in person. This may just be your new favorite way to play on the Cape. The fun is inescapable!
