Enter The Annual Father’s Day Blueberry Pie Eating Contest

The 2nd Annual Father’s Day Blueberry Pie Eating Contest takes place Sunday, June 18, as part of the doubleheader between Cape Cod Baseball League’s Cotuit Kettleers and the Brewster Whitecaps at Lowell Park, Cotuit.

Pie-loving diehards will face off in the contest again co-sponsored by the world-famous Centerville Pie Company and the Kettleers. The contest, which will start at 4:30 p.m., will pit father-son/daughter teams against each other along the third base line as contestants race to see who can clean their pie plate first.  Last year’s champion Terry Moran will return, this year, with his grandson. In addition to bragging rights, the winning team will receive prizes, including Cotuit Kettleers merchandise and two delicious Centerville Pie Company pies (a fruit and savory pie of their choice). Runners-up will take home Centerville Pie Company gift certificates.

“The best summer college baseball, the crack of wood bats, and a taste of delicious pie? That will make for a memorable Father’s Day treat. We strive to provide great family fun and it’s all free,” said Cotuit Kettleers President Paul Logan

Judges for the pie-eating contest have been plucked from the heart of the community

That Girl” (Cat Wilson), from Cape Country 104 FM, will call the play-by-play during the eating frenzy.

Teams of two (a total of 10 teams will compete) are now being sought for the pie-eating contest. Email [email protected] to sign up and for more information.

Pie-eating won’t end with the contest. Fans will be treated to bite-sized samples during the fifth inning of Game 2, which begins immediately after the pie-eating contest.

“Baseball and pie go together like Cape Cod clams and beaches,” said Kristin Broadley, co-owner of the Centerville Pie Co. “We are delighted to sponsor this pie-eating contest and to hand out hundreds of free samples for Cape League fans at the game.”

Here is a little Food For Thought about the groups involved:
