Carol Cronin at The Cape Cod Chocolatier

Hello, My Name Is: Carol Cronin

Occupation: Co-Founder of The Cape Cod Chocolatier in Centerville

What was your first paying job?

When I was 17 I worked at my family’s bakery as an assistant pastry chef cracking eggs, greasing pans, and rolling dough, it was the hardest job I’ve ever had.

When was the last time you laughed really hard?
I have 4 sisters and every year we plan a girls weekend. We re-tell stories of growing up in a big family and laugh so hard we totally lose it.

Did you grow up on the Cape?
I grew up in Pocasset in a neighborhood with a lot of kids. We spent summer days riding bikes and playing kick the can. It was great.

Where is your ‘go-to’ spot for a scoop of ice cream?
Truthfully, I don’t eat ice cream but I have probably eaten my weight in chocolate!

Do you have a favorite non-profit group here on the Cape?
The MSPCA in Centerville has the hardest working and dedicated staff, volunteers and supporters I’ve ever met. From its humble beginnings, they have built a state of the art facility to house, heal and care for thousands of animals. I give them so much credit. It’s a labor of love.

What is the one thing you love to do that surprises people the most?
My husband Rob and daughter are bee keepers. I love watching them open the hives and thousands of bees are buzzing and busy working. It’s an amazing process!

In a parallel universe, what would you be doing?
When I was a kid I wanted to be a foreign diplomat, saving the world and brokering peace while wearing couture clothing.

What person, or persons, had the greatest influence on you?
My parents raised 8 children while running a small business. Their persistence, patience and good nature has been a great inspiration to me.

If I looked in your refrigerator right now, what would I see?
Lots of fruits and vegetables! We eat a salad every day. It leaves room for more chocolate!

If you could go out on a boat fishing for a day, who would you bring ?
It would be fun to go fishing with Greg Skomal. He knows where all the sharks are!

If you’d like to satisfy your sweet tooth, visit Carol at the Cape Cod Chocolatier on Rte 28 in Centerville!
