Is Dennis Golf the Best Kept Secret?

Dennis Golf is home to two beautiful 18 hole courses: Dennis Pines and Dennis Highlands. Dennis Pines is a par seventy-two, seven thousand-yard championship golf course situated on 170 acres of pine forest land. Dennis Highlands is a par 71, sixty five hundred-yard championship golf course. It is situated on 175 acres of pine and oak covered grounds. To the members of Dennis Golf though, it’s about so much more than just the course.

Perhaps one of the best benefits of being a member is the friendships made at Dennis Golf. “We have made more friends here in just a few years than we had living in Worcester all our lives,” said Mary Colbert, a member of the Ladies Niners League, “Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming.” That sentiment is echoed by other members of Dennis Golf. Ian Nickerson said, “I always say some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Young and older; it doesn’t make a difference. Just good people who enjoy the game of golf and a spirited conversation ranging from politics to sports in the pub afterwards!”

And speaking of the pub, Dennis Golf has a fully serviced clubhouse at both locations with pro shops and very popular pubs. Members and guests rave about the cheeseburgers and the atmosphere. “The camaraderie and friendly atmosphere at the Dog Leg makes a good or bad round a fun topic of conversation. The Cheers like atmosphere is always a welcome place to have a drink or a bite to eat,” said Nickerson. The special priced summer time Friday Night Dinners are very popular as well. “Jack’s Friday Night Dinners are a huge hit and the food is a great value for the cost,” advised Nickerson.

Getting back to the course, members have praise about grounds as well. Charlie and Sandy McGibbon say that the “exceptional grounds” is what sets Dennis Golf apart from other courses. They love seeing non-traditional visitors on the green: “Also we enjoy seeing ‘Nature’ on the courses, whether it be deer, hawks, bluebirds and the ever present turkeys!” Ian Nickerson has played golf at courses all over the world and can’t say enough about Dennis Golf, “From the immaculate way the grounds are kept to the affordable membership rates, Dennis Golf is unparalleled.”

Dennis Golf is easy on the wallet. Member Mary Colbert told me, “the cost for both courses is the best kept secret on CC so don’t tell anyone.” It was something I heard from other members as well. Charlie and Sandy McGibbon said, “One of the best public memberships around that include two fantastic courses at a very reasonable price.” When I asked Ian what he’d say to someone thinking of joining, his response was a resounding yes! “Can’t go wrong. Best deal on Cape Cod and probably in Massachusetts in my opinion. Top shelf golf courses for a fraction of the costs at other towns,” Nickerson said.
