National Night Out Is Tuesday August 7th!

Are you ready to have some family fun with our local first responders? National Night Out is Tuesday August 7th and several police departments across the Cape have been planning special nights with BBQ’s, Touch-A-Truck events, K-9 demonstrations and even Line-Dancing with a Cop!

National Night out is a community-police awareness-raising event in the United States, held the first Tuesday of August. The event has been held annually since 1984, and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the United States and Canada. According to the National Association of Town Watch, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Here is some information about towns on the Cape holding National Night OUt events on Tuesday:

Dennis Police Department from 4-7pm will host a BBQ, meet and greet with first responders, demonstrations and more on the Dennis Port Village Green. Matt Pitta from CCB-Media will also be on hand!

BCS K-9 Officer Patrick Martin at Falmouth Police National Night Out

Falmouth Police Department from 6pm-8pm all of Falmouth’s Crime Watch groups as well as the general citizenry are welcome to attend. There will be tours of the police station, activities for children including face painting, a K-9 demonstration, dunk tank, and displays of equipment. There will be representatives from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Dept., Falmouth Fire Dept., Falmouth Department of Public Works, Falmouth Human Services, and Children’s Cove. Also, plenty of free food, refreshments, candy and ice cream. All events will be at the Falmouth Police Headquarters.

Mashpee Police Department from 5:30 to 7:30 join first responders including police, EMTs and firefighters for an evening of fun and demonstrations including Line-Dancing with a Cop! Plenty of fun for the kids including face painting, bike helmets, balloons and more! Food provided by Dino’s and The Lanes plus ice cream from Polar Cave! “That Girl In The Morning” from Cape Country 104 will also be on hand! 

 

Yarmouth Police National Night Out 2017

Yarmouth Police Department from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the Simpkins Field off of Route 28 in South Yarmouth. There will be a static display of Police, Fire and Natural Resource equipment as well as other fun and exciting activities.

 

Wednesday August 8th

Barnstable Police Department along with all five of the Fire Departments are hosting a Kids Day from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Barnstable High School with SWAT and K-9 demonstrations, helicopter, parade through the parking lot with ice cream and hot dogs.
