Visiting a Cape Cod Winery is a must whether you are living on the Cape or here on vacation. While wine is available at liquor stores throughout the region, the Cape & Islands also are home to a couple wineries, each with their own story.

Cape Cod Winery: Truro Vineyards

Truro Vineyards is only a short distance from the ocean and says, “oour sandy soil, warm ocean breezes and temperate climate combine to produce grapes with intense flavor and lush varietal character.” One of the last working farms on the OuterCape, Truro Vineyards is the only vineyard in the region to grow the vinifera, a grape vine native to the Mediterranean, central Europe, Iran and parts of Asia. The five acre farm produces 13 different wines from hand-picked grapes, including reds Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Zinfandel, and whites Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, and Vignoles. Truro Vineyard features Cranberry Red, Diamond White and CapeBlush wines packaged in lighthouse shaped bottles sent from Italy.

Truro Vineyards hosts wine tastings every 30 minutes during business hours, where you can sit on the pavilion overlooking the vines. Cape Cod Winery: First Crush Winery

First Crush Winery in Harwich was started by Frank D. Puzio, an eye doctor who has been honing his wine skills for 30 years. The grapes are grown in NappaValley vineyards that mirror the Mediterranean climate, ensuring high-quality fruit. With these pristine grapes, First Crush Winery produces five special wines: Fusion, visZINary, Star Spangled, Three-Sip-Cran, and Cran Blanc. Wines age up to one year, with some containing dry-picked Cape Cod cranberries, California raisins and, sometimes, a hint of caramel.
