Seasonal Craft Beers now available on Cape Cod

The temperature has cooled off signalling the end of summer. Although you might be sad to see the end of summer, there is a silver lining.

As the seasons change many breweries roll out limited edition beers with flavors and notes of each time of the year.

We caught up with a few local shops on Cape Cod to find out what’s new in stores now and what you can expect this winter.

Check out these shops and don’t forget to check out all the great breweries on Cape Cod, too!

Luke’s Super Liquor Stores

Ayinger Oktoberfest – One of my favorites that I look forward to every year. Traditional Oktoberfest beer. Deep Golden color lightly sweet in taste, with a malty nose.

Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn – Traditional Oktoberfest beer that is brewed once a year specifically for the Oktoberfest season. Deep golden in color with a mellow taste.

Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest with Brauhaus Miltenberger – This will be the 2nd year Sierra Nevada has gone to a German brewer to brew a traditional German Oktoberfest. Deep Golden in color with a rich malt flavor balanced with German hops.

Shipyard Pumpkinhead – A fan favorite in the pumpkin beer category , many have come and gone but this one has stuck around. A refreshing wheat ale with the flavor profile of a pumpkin pie.

Woodstock Autumn Ale – This is a good beer that breaks the trend of the Oktoberfest and Pumpkin style brews. Tastes like Apple pie in a bottle.

Cape Cod Harvest Ale – Great local option that is very similar to a traditional Oktoberfest.  Straw colored ale with a smooth and clean finish.

Liquor N More

For the fall, one of the most anticipated beers is Southern Tiers Pumking, which is now available in four packs.  Down the Road brewing has their Patchwork Kilt Scottish Ale, which is a toasty Scottish table beer with hints of caramel, biscuits and dried fruit.

For the winter we are looking forward to Independent Fermentations Full of Stars Imperial Stout which gets its name from 2001 Space Odyssey.  “My God, it’s full of stars” is what Dave the Astronaut says when he enters the black hole in “2001 Space Odyssey”.  This beer is so dense and heavy, it has its own gravity like a black hole.  There’s lots of roasted malts, lots of hops, lots of everything.  Thick and packed with flavor.  Let it warm up a little bit for full flavor.  9.5% ABV, 60 IBU.

We are also excited about Down the Road Brewings Springheel Jack London Porter an earthy London porter with strong coffee body and a dried fruit finish. 6.5%.
