Third Generation Restaurant Owner still Making Pizza the Old Fashion Way – Two Brothers Pizza and Mexican

Jimmy Arvanitopoulos knows a thing or two about running a restaurant. Growing up he often helped out in his family’s Greek restaurant. “As early as I can remember, in fact I think before I could walk I was in the family restaurant. It’s always been a part of my life,” said Jimmy. For the past 14 years Jimmy has run Two Brothers Pizza and Mexican in Sandwich continuing the family legacy.

Two Brothers Pizza and Mexican is more than just a family run business. It’s clear that the community and customers now feel like part of the extended family. On an average weekday at lunch time, the patrons are greeted by name and the atmosphere is friendly and laid back. Jimmy is engrossed in a conversation with a regular who jokingly tells me not to believe anything Jimmy tells me. Customers have been returning to Two Brothers Pizza and Mexican for years. Some are weekly visitors and it shows.

Jimmy and the gang don’t just see these customers in the restaurant. Two Brothers Pizza and Mexican are very involved in the community. Their family oriented business has created an extended family in Sandwich. Local sports teams see Jimmy and his pizza regularly at events and fundraisers. It’s easy to see why Two Brothers has been a mainstay in the community while other restaurants have come and gone.

The food is made with traditional recipes that were brought over from the Old World. The pizza marinara and pizza sauces are a well kept family secret. Jimmy is quick to point out that their dough is made fresh never frozen and hand stretched which is something many other pizza joints aren’t doing. In addition, all of their pasta is made fresh and local. In a nod to the family atmosphere, all the pastas are served in individual, family and party portions.

Fresh ingredients are a top priority at Two Brothers. With their extensive menu of pizzas, sandwiches, pastas, and Mexican options, the preparation of wide-ranging list of ingredients takes quite a bit of time. “There’s people here a few hours before we open to cut all the vegetables, to prep the toppings and the things that need to be done,” said Jimmy. It’s not just the freshness he prioritizes but also the quality. “We’ve played around with different ingrediants for our toppings and things, but we don’t use a lower quality item just because it’s going to be buried on a pizza. For instance the ham is the same ham we use in our sandwiches. You can really tell the difference if someone is skimming on the quality,” said Jimmy.

Don’t worry, the Greek heritage still has an influence. Two Brothers’ Gyros are available in both chicken and beef. They were named “Best on the Cape” for good reason. Served in a fresh grilled pita pocket with lettuce, tomato, onion, and tangy tzatziki sauce. Have it on its own or as a meal with fries or rice and garden or Caesar salad.

If you haven’t been to Two Brothers Pizza and Mexican in Sandwich, then add it to your to do list. There’s something for everyone on the wide ranging menu with every option prepared with high quality fresh ingredients. From the service to the food, you won’t be disappointed.
