Time To Start Thinking About Your New Year’s Eve Plans

As 2018 winds to a close, most minds are focused on their preparations for the Christmas season but in many Cape Cod towns plans are already well under way for 2019 and local New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Area officials and community organizations have been working for months on one of the biggest nights on the Cape’s winter social calendar with festivities set to include food, drinks, entertainment, and a wide range of activities to close out 2018 with a bang.

First Night Chatham

Come join us for First Night Chatham! We are a family-friendly, alcohol free, town-wide celebration of the arts with over 70 performances and events.

December 31st, 2018 will be First Night Chatham’s 28th New Year’s Eve celebration. It’s a full day of fun and entertainment, starting with the Town Photo at the Chatham Lighthouse at Noon, and culminating with Fireworks at Oyster Pond at the stroke of midnight.

First Night Sandwich

In just its 7th year, this event has been recognized as the #1 New Year’s Eve celebration in Massachusetts by the website “Only in Your State.” This year, First Night Sandwich will be held December 31st from 4 to 9 pm. This New Year’s Eve non-alcoholic family festival of the arts and multicultural activities, musical presentations, and live performances is located in venues both inside and outside in and around Sandwich Village.

First Light Provincetown

While Chatham and Sandwich go for a decidedly family vibe with their New Year’s festivities, P-Town’s 5-day First Light Celebration has a number of activities for the adults. Drag Bingo, theater, cabaret, comedy, jazz, live music, dance parties, film and galleries.

Nantucket Gala Nautical Dinner and Dance Party

Ring in 2019 at our Gala New Year’s Eve Celebration in the Grand Ballroom at The Nantucket Hotel and enjoy the island of Nantucket at one of the most festive times of the year! This year’s theme is “Nantucket Nautical New Year’s.”  More information can be found here.

Private Parties

Numerous restaurants, night clubs, and hotels will be hosting events to ring in the New Year as well. Parting till the wee hours can be an exhausting feat, but fortunately the Cape Codder Resort in Hyannis, the Seacrest in Falmouth, and the Bayside Resort in Yarmouth are among the hotels planning celebrations which are open to the public, and if you book in time will provide on convenient place to crash as well. Hot spots like Embargo, the Irish Village, Seaside on Main, the Falmouth Raw Bar are among the dozens of places to celebrate the arrival of 2019 on Cape Cod, with many providing specialty drinks, music, dancing, and a midnight toast.
