Meet Abby!
Abby is a fun, exuberant Doberman mix from North Carolina! This lovely lady has boundless energy and is ready for someone who can put it to good use! She is so smart and trainable – ready to be a star at obedience classes or agility! Whatever the plan of the day is, Abby wants to be involved with it. Abby is really in need of a family who will be able to let her stretch her legs to their full potential every single day – neighborhood walks are not enough for this athlete. She’d love to be a running or jogging partner, or have someone who wants to participate in dog sports in their fenced yard to allow her to run!
At the moment, Abby is very jumpy and right in your face when she is excited or meeting someone. She also does get mouthy, particularly when toys are involved. This would be quite a lot for little kids, so she’s looking for older kids who are comfortable with a dog of her size and energy level.
She is a bouncy girl who loves to play with everything and anything. Abby LOVES toys, but needs toys that are tough enough to stand up to a powerful chewer. Because Abby came to us from the south, we don’t know her background history. She is likely to need close supervision as she is settling in to her new home, as she has been known to look for things to chew when she is bored. Plenty of exercise and sturdy toys will help with this, as well as structure and boundaries at home. She is currently working on crate training as well as house training, and will need a good schedule to help firm up her skills.
Abby may get along with the right canine companion, but she is definitely choosy. She does not want a dog who may growl at her, and may do best as the only dog in her new home.
Please note, Abby’s adoption will include an additional $100 fee to cover the costs of her trip from the south.
