Want To Know Where The Sharks Are? There Is An App For That!

If you are heading out for a day at the beach or on the boat, make sure you have everything you need: sunscreen, fresh water, bug spray, good weather, good music and your Sharktivity App from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy!

You have probably already heard that some of the Cape’s most popular visitors have returned, and they aren’t afraid to show a little fin at the beach! There have already been several confirmed sightings of sharks near the coast and a handful of temporary beach closures for safety concerns.

According to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy website:

“Cape Cod’s white sharks and grey seals have gained local and national attention. Both species existed long before Cape Cod was settled or became a popular destination, and in recent years their numbers have increased. Sharks have existed for more than 400 million years. As top predators, sharks are critical for maintaining a healthy and balanced marine ecosystem… They come to these areas to feed on seals. While white shark encounters with humans are rare, they can happen.”

By downloading the free app from their website, you have access to the latest information on where and when sharks are seen, as well as photographs when your returning sharks “check in” via radio tags and bouys!

The app should be used for information and educational purposes.  For more information, or to download the app, visit: AtlanticWhiteShark.org
