What’s Happening On Cape Cod For Labor Day Weekend

Anyone who is anyone knows that summer fun doesn’t really end on Labor Day Weekend. That said, there is certainly plenty of fun packed into the next few days! Take advantage of the time off and enjoy some un-official end of season fun! Here are a few of our suggestions!

Hyannis Chamber’s August Business After Hours, Wed, 8/28, 5:30 PM, Cape Tire Service
This special networking event is in honor of Cape Tire Service to help them celebrate their 55th Anniversary! Jon McKennedy, one of the most talented NASCAR racers in New England will be there! Enjoy live music, photo opps, raffles & sweepstakes, VIP gifts and exclusive access to the Cape Tire
racing cars! Refreshments by the new catering division of Original Gourmet Brunch and Lukes Liquors. A free event, but please register in advance at hyannis.com.

Truro Public Library’s 20th Anniversary Bash, Thurs, 8/29, all day
Come celebrate twenty years at the library’s Standish Way location and the vision of those who made it possible! Enjoy a Cake Ceremony at 1 PM, lawn games behind the library all day, a Bounce House for the kids from 1:30 – 3:30, and the Grab Brothers live at 6 PM.

5th Onset Beach Kite Festival, Sat, 10-4, Onset Beach
Fun for the family! Build-a-kite station for the kids just $3 per kite, or feel free to bring your own. Pay parking available at the pier and on the street. Free parking at Hynes Field. onsetbay.org

Cotuit Corridor Block Party, Sat, 8/31, 12-4 PM, Rt. 28, Cotuit
This block party marks the first ever collaboration between the Chapman Gallery, the Cahoon Museum of American Art, Cotuit Center for the Arts, Isaiah Thomas Bookstore, Turtleback Limited, and Villaggio Restaurant, all located along Route 28. Each venue will hold an open house. Enjoy visual art, food, drink, tours, music, literature. Visitors may park at any of the participating venues and enjoy the complimentary shuttles that will be making the loop from noon to 4pm. Artsonthecape.org

14th Dennis Chamber of Commerce Labor Day 5K Road Race, Sun, 9/1, Johnny Kelly Park
Run or walk! You’ll travel along Old Bass River Road to Carleton Hall. Medals are awarded to winners in each division and the overall winner gets a trophy. There’s a special category for students and there’ll be entertainment and fun at the finish line! Start time is 10 AM. dennischamber.com

2019 Five-0 5K, Sun, 9/1, 10:30, Hog Island Beer Co.
“Run like you stole something” in this fun foot race that benefits the Orleans Police Relief Association and Children’s Cove. Registration begins at 9:30 am and the race starts at 10:30 am. There’ll be a fun afterparty at the finish line with live music, raffles, and awards. Info on the Orleans PD’s FB page.

The Great Provincetown Schooner Regatta, Mon, 9/2 – Thurs, 9/5
Every year, this classic regatta begins on Labor Day and ends with a big sailing race on Thursday. This event is a great way to learn about Cape Cod’s rich sailing history. It shares the story of Provincetown’s place in the traditional fishing industry, while educating younger generations about the days when commerce and transportation truly ‘ran with the wind’.
