Barnstable High School Prom Dress Event, Thurs, 3/21 – COLLECTING NOW

Barnstable High School puts on a free prom dress event every year for any student who wants a recycled dress rather than buying new. They’re currently looking for donations of gently-used or new dresses. You can drop them off at Barnstable High School on West Main Street in Hyannis.

 

Stained Glass 101 Workshop, Mon, 3/18 – 4/22, Cotuit Center for the Arts

Choose your own pattern and colors and create your design, then learn to cut, grind, solder, and frame a finished piece. No experience required, all skill levels are welcome. Fresh Ideas Pitch Contest, Thurs, 3/21, 6 PM, Cultural Center Cape Cod

EforAllCapeCod, Buy Fresh, Buy Local, and Live Love Local are teaming up to help launch some fresh ideas for businesses and products on the Cape! Come hear the “Shark Tank” style pitches on Thursday night and vote for your favorite. Some winners may wind up winning a little funding for their launch!

CapeAbilities Farm Free Pansy Opening Day, Fri, 3/22, 9:30-5

13th Annual Boatbuilders Show, Fri, 3/22-Sun, 3/24, Resort & Conference Center

Come explore a large selection of unique, custom, limited-production sail and power boats  in both wood and fiberglass. There will also be talks from some prominent people in the local boating industry – you’ll hear speakers from the Whydah Pirate Museum, First Light Bat Works, and the CC Sail and Power Squadron. Polar Plunge to benefit Dance In The Rain, Sat, 3/23, 11 AM, Millway Beach

Registration is $20 and begins at 11am. The plunge into Barnstable Harbor follows at noon for this peer-to-peer mental health nonprofit. Barrel fires will keep you toasty and coffee and hot chocolate will be available. Warm up at the after-party at Dolphin Restaurant immediately following the plunge. Enjoy free hors d’oeuvres and chowder, live music and cash bar. $5 donation at the door. There’s a plunge pre-party at CC Beer Friday night.

 

10th Meet Your Local Farmers Event, Sat, 3/23, 12-3, Harwich Community Center

Kick-off the 2019 growing season, meet local farmers from around Cape Cod, and learn more about locally grown products. Farmers will be selling all sorts of interesting (and delicious) items. And a handful of farms will be offering Consumer Sponsored Agriculture (CSA) opportunities where folks can buy a subscription that allows access to farm fresh produce from May to October. harwichconservationtrust.org
