Cape Conservatory Falmouth Campus Preschool Program Gets Upgrades

FALMOUTH – The pre-school classroom at the Cape Conservatory’s Falmouth campus received a facelift in time for fall enrollments.

The Conservatory received two capital grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund to support the pre-school renovation project: $82,000 in 2015 and $114,000 in 2016.

Matching funds for these grants were received from the Hermann Foundation and the Highfield Theater Restoration Project.

The first grant was used to renovate the existing pre-school classroom at the Falmouth campus, to create a more secure and easily-accessible space.

Renovations included the installation of a private toddler-centric restroom and the installation of a rear exit door to provide a direct escape route for children and staff in the case of an emergency.

The second grant installed a new fire suppression system, revised the driveway so that traffic travels in a loop, created an auxiliary parking lot, a pedestrian cross walk and added safety lighting to the area.

“We are delighted to have fresh space for our students, but the addition of many upgraded safety features ensures that our students and staff are safer, more comfortable and can focus on providing the best academic and artistic foundation for our preschoolers,” said Executive Director Stephanie Weaver.

With the upgrades, the state has revised the Conservatory license to allow for more students in the arts-infused preschool program, going from a 12-student capacity to 16.
