$150,000 Grant to Help Yarmouth’s Biofuel Efforts

YARMOUTH – The town will receive $150,000 from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s Sustainable Materials Recovery Program/Organics Capacity Project.

The municipal grants reward entities for recycling, composting, reuse and source reduction efforts which increase the diversion of municipal solid waste and household hazardous waste from disposal.

Yarmouth’s efforts to disposing grease trap waste by generating it into biofuel will directly benefit from the funding.

Technology which does that converting will be purchased with the money.

Town of Yarmouth Department of Public Works Director Jeff Colby said that the grant will help preserve the area’s environment.
