HYANNIS – The 17th annual Abraham Penn Community Award has been presented to the owners of Moby Dick’s Restaurant in Wellfleet.
The award, named after the founder of Puritan Cape Cod, began in 1999 as the business celebrated its 80th anniversary.
It is given annually to a nominated individual to acknowledge their excellence to the community and to their customers.
“The award really recognizes an individual who has the same core principles as my grandfather who started the company and that is service to the customer and service to the community,” said Puritan Cape Cod President Rick Penn.
The Barry’s were honored by members of the Penn family and Wellfleet Chamber of Commerce recently at the Puritan Cape Cod location in Hyannis.
Chambers from across the Cape were invited to submit nominations.
The Wellfleet Chamber received a $1,000 donation in the Barry’s name for nominating the eventual winner.
“Our core values and our core principles are strong today as they were back in 1919 and this is a way for us to recognize and give back to the community,” said Penn.
