Two Cape Cod State Reps. Maintain Perfect Voting Record

BOSTON – Two local state representatives are being recognized for having perfect voting records for the first half of the 2017-18 legislative session.

Brewster republican Tim Whelan, who represents the 1st Barnstable district, and 2nd Barnstable State Representative Will Crocker, a Centerville republican, have participated in all 305 roll call votes cast in the House since January.

Whelan also had a perfect voting record in the 2015-16 legislative session.

Both Whelan and Crocker cast votes this session on bills that were signed into law, including the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which requires employers to provide reasonable workplace accommodations for expectant and nursing mothers.

They also voted for a proposal to double the one-time survivor benefits paid to the families of first responders killed in the line of duty. The benefits were increased from $150,000 to $300,000.

Whelan serves on the House Committee on Ways & Means and serves as ranking member of the Joint Committee on Public Service. He also serves on the Joint Committee on Higher Education.

Crocker serves on the Joint Committees on Substance Use and Recovery; Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities; and Travel, Tourism and Cultural Development.
