Two Local Nonprofits Receive Grant Funding to Assist Small Businesses

BARNSTABLE – Two Cape Cod nonprofits were among more than 40 in the state to receive grant funding to assist small local businesses and entrepreneurs.

Coastal Community Capital in Centerville and the Community Development Partnership in Eastham received a total of $145,000 out of the $2 million awarded.

The funding through the Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation’s Small Business Technical Assistance Grant Program will allow the nonprofits to provide business management assistance, financial training and small loans to local businesses.

The grant program focuses on underserved communities throughout the state.

Coastal Community Capital received $70,000. The organization is a division of Cape & Islands Community Development, Inc., a non-profit community development lender serving Massachusetts businesses since 1995 with our commercial lending expertise.

Coastal Community Capital is certified by the U.S. Department of the Treasury as a Community Development Financial Institution and by the U.S. Small Business Administration as a Certified Development Corporation. Coastal Community Capital promotes economic development through small business growth, management of the region’s small business loan fund, and provides entrepreneurial support through free business counseling and its annual workshop series. The Community Development Partnership received $75,000 in grant funding.

Cape CDP serves the Lower Cape region by promoting environmental and economic sustainability, expanding opportunities for low-and moderate-income residents, and preserving its unique cultural and historic character.

Cape CDP works to strengthen small businesses, from traditional trades to new ventures. The organization provides technical assistance, education, and access to capital to local businesses and supports local fishing and shell-fishing businesses with expertise.
