Over 2,000 Bicyclists To Trek Through Cape Cod on Sunday

bikeaHYANNIS – More than 2,000 bicyclists will embark on a two-day, 150-mile ride next weekend in an effort to raise money to help create a world free of multiple sclerosis.

The 31st annual Bike MS: Cape Cod Getaway starts at UMass Boston at 7:30 a.m.  June 27, with the participants biking along the South Shore to Bourne.

After spending the night at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, riders will take off on Sunday to ride to Provincetown.

The first cyclists are expected to roll through Barnstable on Service Road around 5:45 a.m.

There will be a rest stop at the Clinical Research Center of Cape Cod in Hyannis.

All riders are expected to have traveled through Barnstable and headed into Yarmouth on Route 6A by 9:45 a.m.

The Cape Cod Getaway benefits the National MS Society, which funds research into multiple sclerosis and supports people with MS live their lives through programs and services.

A number of the riders taking part have MS, and wear a special “I ride with MS” jersey to raise awareness of the disease and of the challenges faced by people living with MS.
