NATIONAL – The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recently announced its suggested $25 million in grants designated improve fishing communities across the country.
The grants will be made through the Saltonstall-Kennedy program.
If completely passed, the funding will be the largest amount ever granted by NOAA under the program.
The purposes of specific allocations fall into four categories: fishing job creation, improving fishery observations, increasing quality and quantity of domestic seafood and improving fishery information from US territories.
