3 Chambers of Commerce Form Legislative Alliance

BUZZARDS BAY – Three local chambers of commerce are partnering in a legislative alliance.

The Cape Cod Canal Region, New Bedford Area and Bristol County Chambers of Commerce have formed the Southeastern Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce Alliance.

The alliance will talk directly with legislators regarding legislation that hurts small business, along with working with business leaders to improve the overall business climate.

“We feel the three chambers working together in formalizing an alliance will lead to more clout on Beacon Hill,” Oliva said.

Oliva said the alliance is focusing on specific types of legislation that can affect businesses statewide, or specifically in the Southeastern Massachusetts region.

“There’s no borders when it comes to different types of legislation. It affects everybody,” Oliva said. “Our job is to let all business members know, whether they are members of the chamber or not, that we are going to continue to have a voice on Beacon Hill.”

The three chambers represent over 2,600 businesses.

The alliance will work with members of the legislative delegation on forming policy and respond to existing initiatives proposed at the statewide and national level.
