DENNIS – The Field of Honor in Dennis is one of many tributes and events going on for Veteran’s Day.

The Dennis Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with community sponsors to place 300 American flags at Johnny Kelley Park.

The display will be in place throughout Veteran’s Day and has raised between $4,000 and $6,000 for local veterans. All proceeds benefit AmVets Post 333.

“It’s a very beautiful installation,” said Dennis Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Spyro Mitrokostas. “It’s not something that you would necessarily see any place else.”

He said the installation is unique.

“We hope that this continues as a tradition on the Cape. There are only three Field of Honors in the state of Massachusetts and we are one of them. We grew from year one to year two and we’re hoping to grow it again next year to involve even more families and people who want to honor people who serve,” Mitrokostas added.
