BOURNE – The Open Doorway’s 3rd Annual Cape Cod Run for Recovery Relay Race is being held this weekend.

The Eastham-based non-profit organization’s race begins on Saturday in Bourne and ends in Harwich.

It resumes on Sunday and will continue to the Provincetown finish line.

A small celebration event for the runners will take place at a board member’s home in Truro after the race.

The event raises awareness about the Opioid Epidemic on Cape Cod and attempts to unite the communities on supporting recovery.

Teams of runners will be carrying purple flags to raise money to help fund treatment for those in need and to support a life of recovery.

A purple flag will also be placed at each police department.
