4 C’s Community Reflects Ahead of 9/11 Anniversary

cccc-flagWEST BARNSTABLE – Students, faculty, and staff gathered at Cape Cod Community college Friday to commemorate the 15th anniversary of 9/11.

The college holds the ceremony each year in partnership with the West Barnstable Fire Department. Firefighters unveil a large American flag on one of their ladder trucks.

“It’s a moment to reflect on the tragedy of 9/11 and give people a chance to share their thoughts as a community,” said Cape Cod Community President John Cox.

Cox noted that many of the students at the ceremony were 18 or 19 years old and have grown up in a post-9/11 world.

“You have a generation that has really grown up in this era of post-9/11 where international terrorism has been such a mainstay in our lives and how we deal with that on a daily basis,” Cox said.

The event at Cape Cod Community College was one of many 9/11 commemorations being held this weekend across Cape Cod.
