4C’s Plans Sports Center Renovations, Intramurals

KA_Cape Cod Community College_CCCC_Winter_Sunny_012116_007WEST BARNSTABLE – An aging fitness center sits at the Cape Cod Community College (CCCC) campus, largely unused. But after surveying students, the school now plans on renovating that center and offering intramural sports and wellness activities.

CCCC Spokesman Michael Gross said Zumba and Yoga were highly requested in that recent survey, as were intramural sports.

“Right now we focus on the fitness center turning into a health, wellness and fitness center, we have some great students who want to put activities back into the institution,” he said.

The school may also recruit an intramural leader for games like tennis, basketball and more, he said.

The money may have to come from creative fundraising Gross said, since the state doesn’t have much in the way of extra dollars.

Nonetheless, Gross said the school is committed to giving its students what they’ve requested.

There have been no exact estimates on cost just yet; nonetheless,  he said the school is planning on acting “as soon as possible.”
