4C’s Reopens Food Pantry for Students and Faculty

Cape_Cod_Community_College_001BARNSTABLE – The Family Pantry of Cape Cod Community College is open for the new school year.

The Family Pantry and College have operated a food pantry for students and faculty for the past two years.

It’s located in the lower level of the Gymnasium building and is open Mondays 2-4 p.m., Tuesdays 10-1 p.m. and 2-4:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 10-1 p.m.

“All they need is a school ID and that’s their first foot in the door and then the pantry volunteers will take it from there,” said Pantry Executive Director Christine Menard.

The pantry at the college is designed to address the Cape’s population that does not have access to a food pantry in Hyannis.

Eligible clients can receive one bag of non-perishable foods per week.

“It’s the basics, it’s the pasta, it’s the flour, it’s the condiments, it’s the beans and cereal, pasta sauce, it’s the things you need to get through your week,” said Menard.

This year, the Pantry is being run by Project Forward.

Project Forward helps to teach life skills to students with disabilities.
