WEST BARNSTABLE – A Cape Cod Community College student from Chatham was honored this week among the “best of the best” in Massachusetts Public Higher Education.

Joshua Dykens was selected as one of the “29 Who Shine” for 2016.

Dykens, who is pursuing a degree in Economics, is a member of the college’s class of 2016 and is its student trustee.

The award ceremony, which honors students from every state higher education campus, was held Monday at the State House.

Dykens was chosen from several Cape Cod Community College nominees. The honorees were required to be residents of Massachusetts who have strong academic profiles, a record of civic engagement and an intention to remain in the state and advance its communities after graduation.

“I am very proud to recognize Josh for his leadership overseeing the very successful Economics Club Speakers program on campus, and organizing partnership projects between the College’s Rotaract Club, Rotary Clubs on the Cape, and in the country of Haiti where CCCC students traveled to install a fresh water well for over 20,000 people,” said Cape Cod Community College President John Cox.
