71 Cape Cod Students Will Participate In Semester At Sea

BUZZARDS BAY – The Massachusetts Maritime Academy sea term will set sail this upcoming January.

Six hundred cadets will depart Taylors Point on the TS Kennedy on January 11th. The Cadets include 71 students from Cape Cod

 

21 cadets from Sandwich

14 cadets from Falmouth

6 cadets from Mashpee

5 cadets from Bourne

4 cadets from Barnstable

4 cadets from Martha’s Vineyard

4 cadets from Nantucket

3 cadets from Orleans

2 cadets from Brewster

2 cadets from Yarmouth

1 cadet from Dennis

1 Cadet from Eastham

The ship will make stops in Balboa, Panama, Golfito, Costa Rica, Willemstad, Curacao, Florida.

MMA has also invited participate in the “Follow the Voyage-Share the Experience” which allows the public to follow the cadets throughout their trip.

“It’s a very exciting program, it’s been around for about twenty four years. But it has been expanded so that student’s from K-12 can follow”, Nancy Franks “Follow The Voyage” Coordinator for MMA.

 

Last year over 12,000 students from ages K-12 participated in the program.

“This year we plan on topping that number significantly, but we would especially like to have more followers from Cape Cod”, said Franks.
