OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Officials say an investigation had been in place for weeks into a warehouse that burned Friday night in Oakland, California, during an electronic music party, killing at least nine people. Investigators were looking into whether people were living there illegally.

Alameda County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Kelly says there are more bodies trapped in the debris.

Kelly says the recovered bodies have been taken to the coroner’s office to be identified.

He says excavators, a crane and dumpster trucks are being brought in to help in the recovery and the building is being flooded with light to allow crews to work through the night.

Kelly says crews will have to move very slowly as they pull out debris and look for more victims.

He says at least two dozen people remain missing.

The NBA Golden State Warriors say the team is donating $50,000 to help families. The NFL Oakland Raiders say they’ve joined forces with the Major League Baseball’s Oakland A’s to aid those affected by the fire.
