PROVINCETOWN – The perfect event for amateur astronomers is happening at The Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum on Wednesday the 18th.
Between 7:00 and 10:00, Don German, Outer Cape Cod’s NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Solar System Ambassador, will host a program starting with his showing a model of the Saturn V rocket that was used to get the Apollo Spacecraft to and from the moon.
This will be followed by him teaching attendees how to identify constellations and asterisms through telescopes and binoculars.
Participants will have an opportunity to see the craters in the waxing crescent moon up close using German’s 5.5 inch reflecting telescope. He will also help participants look at Orion’s Nebula and Pleiades, known as the Seven Sisters, using astronomical binoculars.
Since space is limited to view through the telescope; there will be a first come- first served sign up. Everyone may bring their own telescopes and binoculars to this free event.
