HYANNIS – Gas prices in Massachusetts fell 11 cents over the past week.
AAA northeast reports that self-serve, regular unleaded is selling for an average of $2.05 per gallon.
That price is four cents above the national average.
A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 48 cents higher at $2.53 per gallon.
“This week, the national gas price will drop below $2.00 per gallon for the first time in four years and it won’t stop there as demand for gasoline diminishes as Americans stay home,” said Mary Maguire, Director, Public and Legislative Affairs.
“Crude oil continues to price low – in the $20 per barrel range – as U.S. gasoline demand decreases to numbers typically seen during the winter driving season.”
Prices on Cape Cod are between $1.63 and $2.45, according to GasBuddy.com.
