AAA Northeast College Loan Counseling Program Free at Dennis Branch

DENNIS – The price of attending four year colleges and universities has created a daunting task for many prospective collegiate students and their families.

The same can be said about the seemingly endless process of applying for financial assistance programs and student loans.

AAA Northeast has announced that all of its Massachusetts branches are offering a new “Ask the Specialist” program to college bound students and families.

“Everybody needs to rely on some type of assistance with the cost of college these days to try to make it possible for the families, and hopefully we’re helping out those families maximize the amount they can get during that process,” said Senior Student Loan Manager Don Kerr.

“It can be a pretty overwhelming and confusing process for a lot of families and we’re there to just really guide them along that process, point them in the right direction, and try to help give them the information so they can make the right decisions for their families and their students.”

The program, also available at the AAA location in Dennis, provides one-on-one counseling, advice, and assistance in understanding college financing programs and student loan options and completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The program also offers assistance to recent graduates preparing to pay back their student loans.

“What we’re doing with our loan counseling program is offering a chance for AAA members to meet with a specialist out in a branch. We have a schedule at some branches where we have a specialist on certain days, and they can just call up, make an appointment and come on in,” Kerr explained.

“It’s a brand new program we’ve launched for the first time and we’re doing it up in some of our North Shore branches. It’s still available at the Dennis branch, but they’ll have to call and schedule an appointment.”

The “Ask a Specialist” program is a year-round operation. Meetings are available in all Massachusetts branches Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

AAA members can schedule an appointment by calling 888-422-2536.
