MARIN COUNTY, CA – Actor and comedian Robin Williams was found dead today in his California home after an apparent suicide.
He was 63.
The Marin County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call at 11:55 a.m. reporting a man had been located unconscious and not breathing.
The man was identified as Williams and pronounced dead at 12:02 p.m.
Preliminary information developed during the investigation lead the sheriff’s coroner division to believe the cause of death to be a suicide caused by asphyxiation.
A comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination can be made and a forensic examination is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12 with a subsequent toxicology test to be conducted.
Williams won an Academy Award for his performance in the movie “Good Will Hunting.”
