BOSTON – Attorney General Maura Healey has filed a lawsuit against the owners and managers of an East Wareham affordable housing property that allegedly discriminated against a disabled resident.

The suit filed against New Depot Crossing, LP, Hallkeen Management, Inc., Housing Solutions for Southeastern Massachusetts and Dianne Callahan alleges the property owners sought a court order to remove assistance animals from a blind tenant before considering a request for a reasonable accommodation.

The tenant also suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and relies on assistance animals.

As a result of the alleged actions, a guide dog was put down.

Healey is seeking damages for the victim along with civil penalties.
