AG Healey Funds Summer Youth Jobs on Cape & Islands

HYANNIS – Attorney General Maura Healey is awarding over $300,000 in grant money to local programs including Martha’s Vineyard’s Boys and Girls Club, and Sandwich’s YMCA, through her ‘Healthy Summer Youth Jobs Grant’.

The goal of the program is to allow local youth focusing on careers in the health and wellness fields the chance to advance public health, by providing health promotion, and disease prevention interventions in their communities.

This year’s grants are funded with $326,827 in settlement money from the AG’s Office.

Beyond increasing employment for young people, the grant funding will allow teens to hold jobs this summer that will impact public health including working at a community health center, leading cooking classes and teaching nutrition or fitness at a summer camp.

In the four years that the AG’s Office has run this program, it has funded more than 750 jobs across the state.
