Agency in Need of Donations for Thanksgiving

HYANNIS – For the past eight years, Community Action Committee of Cape and Islands has provided Thanksgiving baskets to the needy in the region for Thanksgiving.

This year, the need is particularly great, according to Kristine Dower, interim director of the agency.

In the interview below, Kris Dower gives an overview of the Thanksgiving Basket project and how people can donate and help.

Donations can be dropped off at St. Mary Church in Barnstable Village.

Joan Rezendes, vice president at Job Training and Employment Corporation, said this year, about 200 families who have requested Thanksgiving baskets and turkeys so far and donations are coming in slow.

Donations of Thanksgiving Baskets and turkeys can be dropped off at Ben & Jerry’s, Main Street, Hyannis between 10 am and 2 pm Saturday; and until 5 p.m on Friday or they can be dropped off at CACCI at 372 North Street, Hyannis until 4 p.m. Friday and between 9 am. and 2 p.m. this Saturday.
