Alliance Appeals Latest Legal Victory for Cape Wind

windfarmBARNSTABLE – The Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound joined the Town of Barnstable yesterday in filing an appeal of a judge’s decision dismissing a lawsuit that sought to block Cape Wind.

Cape Wind is the project to construct 130 wind turbines in Nantucket Sound.

The suit alleged that regulators pressured NSTAR to buy power from Cape Wind.

“Our case alleges that NSTAR was coerced into signing a no-bid contract that violates federal law, discriminates against affordable green power producers from out of state, and burdens small businesses and municipalities with unnecessarily high electricity costs,” Audra Parker, President and CEO of the Alliance, said in a prepared statement.

According to Cape Wind, the suit is the 26th failed legal action brought by project opponents.
