FALMOUTH – Republican candidate for the 9th Congressional seat Mark Alliegro has received support from the three local county sheriffs.
Barnstable County Sheriff James Cummings, Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph McDonald and Thomas Hodgson, the Bristol County Sheriff, have endorsed Alliegro.
Cummings praised Alliegro’s traditional values and his belief in the rule of law.
Hodgson said Alliegro’s support of the law enforcement community and his support of the Constitution are reasons for his endorsement.
McDonald believes Alliegro’s background as a scientist and educator gives him a unique perspective to inform the public about illicit substances and praised his fight to stop the legalization of marijuana.
Alliegro is a cell biologist with a background in biochemistry and molecular biology and has worked at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole. He also worked as a professor of molecular biology, cellular biology and biochemistry at Brown University.
Alliegro looks to unseat Democratic incumbent William Keating.
The election is Tuesday, November 8.
