Alzheimer’s Association Brings Walk to Cape Cod

Walking01HYANNIS – The 2016 Cape Cod Walk to End Alzheimer’s is set for Sunday, September 18 at Veterans Park Beach in Hyannis.

The Cape Cod walk is the newest addition to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter’s twelve Walk to End Alzheimer’s events.

In 2015, the Chapter raised over $3.7 million and welcomed over 22,000 participants in both states.

“We are very excited to be launching the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on the Cape,” said Jim Wessler, President/CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association, MA/NH Chapter. “As the nation’s premier event to raise awareness and funds to both invest in research and services to support families, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is truly moving our nation towards our vision of a World without Alzheimer’s.”

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., with a ceremony to be held at 9:00 a.m.

The walk will include a one mile and three mile route.

Participants will have the opportunity to connect with local service providers and learn more about the support the Alzheimer’s Association provides.

“We welcome everyone to join us on September 18th for our first Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Cape Cod,” said Pam Schwabe, Cape Cod Development Officer of the Alzheimer’s Association, MA/NH Chapter. “The Walk gives you the opportunity to honor someone fighting the disease, to pay tribute to the memory of a loved one and to take a stand against Alzheimer’s.”

Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Online registration is already open for the event.
